Fly Rod Building

Monday, January 17th, 2011

So, we got a bad case of cabin fever this winter/spring. Long story short, we made an attempt at rod building. Three rods later, we’re hooked.  As beginners, we started out w/ house-label rods (i.e. not Sage, Winston, etc.) to save on some money as we learn the intricacies of yet another aspect of fly fishing.  Here are some pics of the last rod built, an 8′ 3 wt.  We won’t be confused with Steve Rajeff any time soon, but we don’t expect the fish to mind.
